Mercenary Machines aims to provide a game that is challenging and engaging on multiple levels.

As a 4x game, it is based primarily on the following concepts:

Exploration - Starting from a government base, explore to find good locations to build from, and the hidden resources of your opponents.

Expansion - Expand and reinforce your territory to gain access to vital resources. Find and fortify locations of strategic value.

Exploitation - Efficiency is essential. Choose your path, then exploit the resources and technologies you have mastered to compensate for those you can't.

Extermination - Land and resource are strictly limited, and both are essential. Destroy your opponents, both in the sporting arenas and territorial battles, to gain xp, land and resources.

Technology - A complex tech tree, featuring mutually exclusive technologies from the start, will demand conviction to your goals as you race to obtain the ultimate technologies.

Diplomacy - With so many other players, diplomacy is key. Ally yourself with other players or go it alone. Trade resources and equipment on the open market. You may even need to co-operate with your opponents on larger tasks to sway the storyline in your favor.

Gambling - Got an eye for a winner? Bet on combat results, simple or wacky, to flood your resource pool.

Micromanagement - Take control of the layout of your cities, the design of your tools of war, and your strategy of conquest. Keep your key personnel productive and efficient.
